One more from Torres Del Paine, then we'll do some other things.
The winds were absolutely amazing. Getting soaked for this one was one of the most memorable shoots of my life. Waves more than 2 meters high at times, driven by winds gusting to hurricane force were what I wanted to capture. Almost all of my hundreds of shots were lost to spray and the camera and I both took a major beating. It was an experience I'll never forget and this one of the few shots I was able to make captured something of the essence of the amazing weather and power I felt in this place.
The painterly look comes from a Shutter speed of 1/4 second, and the massive amount of blowing spray throughout. D800E.
This is a male Amur leopard.

The Amur leopard is the rarest big cat in the world. Although numbers in the wild have stabilised in the last few years due to significant conservation work, their numbers remain critically low....with maybe as few as 35 individuals remaining.
Any Disneyworld fans out there might recognize this. It is the queue for the "Pirates of the Caribbean". Luckily, I was here on a slow night. So, I was able to just hang around taking photos......while happy families passed by thinking to themselves "Who is this idiot with the tripod"?
