The Killer by Richard Peters
Taken in Florida. It was a dreary overcast day, windy and the water had little bits floating about, so images of this aligator were not looking good. So I had the idea of trying to slow the shutter down to smooth the water out and make the gator appear to almost be coming out of mist. using my monopod I had to try and brace and wedge my 200-400 as steady as I could along the broad walk in the Everglades to keep everything still. Shooting at 1/5 of a second at f25 certainly presented a few challenges! It may have been dull but getting that shutter speed down without filters was tricky! The gator was ever so slightly bobbing about in the water due to the wind but this was the sharpest image I could get. The damsel fly (maybe a Halloween Pennant) sitting on the head was the icing on the cake for me.
