High Seas by Phrasikleia Epoiesen
The fog bank this evening was 2,300 feet deep and about 30 miles wide. I heard reports of its highest elevation and then consulted a topographical map to see where I could possibly go to get above the fog and still see some 'islands' in the distance. I was hoping that this church would be visible over the fog, and it was…just barely! A long exposure and long focal length revealed that there was some light on the church, partially coming from the halogen lamps pointed at it and partially from the sunset reflecting off of its whitewashed walls. I couldn't quite see the light with my own eyes, however. I thought it might look illuminated, but I wasn't sure until I saw the preview on my camera's LCD. This was one of those rare occasions where the camera had a better view than I did.
