Winter's Last Breath by Paul Garrett
I woke up this morning to seven inches of fresh snow on the ground and heavy flurries drifting down from above. Giant trees creaked and cracked as they swayed, burdened by the extra weight of the snow that clung to their dark green boughs. I made my way down our buried street following the deep tracks that were left behind by an intrepid driver.
Hiking up a trail cloaked in snow, I reached the edge of this enchanted forest as the snow gave way to rain.
