Ouch my nose! Red Fox Pouncing in Snow by Tin Man

During the impact, I could see a splash of snow... Capturing and inferring motion in a picture is challenging. Too fast a shutter speed, and I could only freeze the motion but that's it. On the other hand, slow panning of motion is beautiful but is also difficult if the motion is not along a predicted path. But inspired by our workshop leader Chas Glatzer, I realized that a lot of the action in the winter especially in Yellowstone came with splashes of snow from the vigorous action by the animals, be it running, fighting, hunting, taking off, etc, and this splash of snow becomes very important to help show the motion, as I have seen in many of Chas's pictures which he mastered. So I kept looking for this kind of splashes throughout this trip. I was really glad when that splash of snow came out from the place where the fox dived into the snow. I couldn't believe my eyes how high the fox jumped, it's probably 10 times his/her height! What an experience. Winter Yellowstone with Shootthelight Workshop.
