Gecko by Alida Jorissen

Geckos are lizards and they are unique among lizards in their vocalizations. Most geckos cannot blink. They have a fixed lens within each iris that enlarges in darkness. They lack eyelids and instead have a transparent membrane, which they lick to clean. Nocturnal species have excellent night vision; their eyes are 350 times more sensitive to light than the human eye. I never use flash and I've never had an external flash unit for a camera.

Azul by Alex Noriega
Azul by Alex Noriega
A vertical version of my previous image "Azure". Single 3-minute exposure taken last September at Crater Lake. The light on the tree was more red/magenta in this one - it was taken right after the previous horizontal, so there must have been more of an opening in the clouds at the horizon in that span of time. I normally wouldn't post two such similar images, but people kept commenting on the top of the tree getting cut off in the horizontal, so HERE'S YOUR VERTICAL. YOU HAPPY? I am. Sort of. I'll have some new images for you all soon!

Spinning Reverse by Rajat Bhargava
Spinning Reverse by Rajat Bhargava
It was a nice breeze shiny Sunday afternoon. We were playing in our community garden. Someone flick the ball towards where gardener was working and ball got wet. After that it becomes a monster. The faster bowlers it like rocket but the magic begin when my elder brother start bowling with it. He turns the ball very sharply, the moment he delivered the first ball; the closing fielder got a lovely shower because of spinning the wet ball. I was looking that ball and suddenly I thought lets capture this awesome moment. I grabbed my camera and ask my brother to spin fast he can, after few miss shots I finally grab that magical moment, where everything was in sharp focus.

Angel Place Birdcages by Lin Zee
Angel Place Birdcages by Lin Zee
excerpt from http://www.weekendnotes.com.au/public-art-sydney/ Located next to the City Recital Hall in Angel Place, Sydney you'll find the "Forgotten Songs", a public art installation which features a canopy of empty birdcages hanging in the sky. The installation was undertaken as part of the Angel Place laneway upgrade. I was particularly drawn to this installation as I could hear the bird songs from the cages; it represents the sounds of Sydney's lost birds which may have inhabited in this area before the laneway upgrade.
